I

,

rPport.
Ditrict 6W Trunk Storni Sewers:
District 6W is a part of District 6 in Roseville comprising a toal of 1835 acres which drins
in the northerly direr_tion to Lake Johanna primarily through County Ditch No. 4.
Primary considerations for storm sewers within tnis district involve both the past performance
af County Ditch 4 within the developed area north of Bruce Avenue and the anticipated future
performance in view of the increased runoff anticipatd fram ttie Allied Stores development
area. The 1962 storm sewer report indicated that the area adjacent to Herschel Avenue and
Wheeler Avenue from south of Oakcrest Avenue to Rose Place floods and washes severely after
any rainfall of consequence. This sizuation will worsen with the development of the Allied
Stores property and with the resulting increase of runoff.
In 1963 iamsey County improved County Rnad "C" west of Snelling Avenue. As a paxt of this im-
provement and at the cost of the Vil.age a;8 inch I-Hed reinforced concrete culvert was
placed beneath County Road "C" to convey County Tih 4 storm drainage.
The proposed location and diameters of the stor sewer to serve that part of District 6W frnm
Bruce Avenue to County Road "C" is shown on Drawing No. 9 and on Drwing No. 10. The location
indicated on these drawings vaies to a minor degree from the location proposed in the Mastr
Plan Report. This variati.on is in the ara nQ_rth of 4alcrest where it is now proposed to con-
struct the storm sewer along the existing alignent of County Ditch d4 at tFie rear lot line
beiween lheeler Avenue and Herschel Avenue. The Master Plan indicated the location to be on
Tdiieeler Avenuenorth of Oakcrest. iowever, it is anticipated that in this location conflicts
between sanitary sewer services and the storm sewer may be encountered. This could be avoided
by zhe rear lot line 'tocation of the storm sewer. This proposed location on ihe rear lot line
taaween Iheeler Avenue and HPrschel Avenue has certain problms relative to site confinement
because of xistimg power service poles, fences and same shrubbery. It is felt iat these
'`' s
problers are not insurmouatable and that the end result will permit a ver, desirable grading
oi the existing ditch area so that the properties will blend in with a natural contour of ona

to Che other. Also it is proposed that manholes along this ditch line be pravided with catch
, _
-_ - 14 -
5
