� <br />� <br />� <br />� <br />� <br />� <br />PRELIMINARY REPORT <br />ON <br />�OUNTY ROAD "�-2" FROM FAIRVIEW AVENUE TO HAAQ,INE AyENUE <br />DESCRIPTION OF AR�A <br />The principal area of service £or the develapment of County Road "B-2" between Fairview Avenue <br />and Hamline Avenue is that area lying between Trunk Highway S1 and Fairview Avenue north o.f <br />Trunk Highway 36 with a westerly projection of Transit Avenue as the northerly boundary. This <br />area is proposed for development as a shopping center by Allied Stores. Development af County <br />Road "B-2" between Hamline Avenue and Fairview Avenue� will not only provide servfce to the <br />area described but also will provide for a continuous arterial route from Rice Street to <br />Cleveland Avenue, most of which is dlesignated as Coun�y Road "B-2�'. <br />Service to this area with a roadway facility involves many indirect but significant engineer- <br />ing problems. One of these problems is the matter of drainage �rhich will be dealt with in a <br />:� separate section of this report. This subject deserves special treatment since �hP area des- <br />cribed is presently traversed by Cou�nty Ditch P1:. 4 draining approximately 350 acres sauth of <br />� irunk Highway No. 36. Con.sideration has been iven i.n this re or * <br />g p t to _he means by which the <br />water fro� this draiaage district is to be convey�d to a discharge point by a faciiity of <br />`� . � <br />starm:sew�rs. <br />�� . <br />b�hile sanitar� sewer service and water main service to this area are not a par.t of this report <br />�.,:,, . <br />� it can be stated that each o€ these utiiities is avail.able to serve this site� Each is both <br />adaquate in capacity and so located as to not incur unusual construction costs. t <br />a <br />� ROADWAY DESIGN ' <br />The follawing paragraphs and exhibiC drawings will give details as to the basis for fihe road- <br />� way design. County Road "�-Z" betwe:en Hamline Avenue ana Trunk Iii h <br />g way 51 has been designated <br />as.a Municipal State Aid street. By� Council resolution a request has been made for a similar <br />� <br />r ` designation of Coun�r Rc3ad "B-2" between Trunk Highway 51 and Fairview Avenue. Such slesig�a- <br />�tion wi11 permit the use of Municipal State Aid funds to fiaance a part of the constructio� <br />5 <br />P <br />� � of this €acility.
