As noted in the me7-o; plans are very
preliminary in nature.
2. In general, wn gree with the concept of imprving Lexington Avenue rior
to its being turned over to the CQuntye It, however, suc{ imrovements
require considerable investment on the part of the Village, we slould be
extremely careful to ascertain fihat the exhent of the impovernen}s are necessary
for the road to serve its rurpose, thus before any final recommencations cre
made, it will be important ; ascerhain to a reasonahle deciee ihe extent of
these expenses
;s. We have not, as yet, examinetl the traffic tlow projections, and iiiese figures
will of course be instrumntal in datermininy t{e extent f the imovements
thct are necessary. One item f concern tht ve note at tf,is time would be
the fficiency of access to the two shopping centers a the intersec.tion of
Lexington and Larpenteur Avenue. Generally, you will note that the cuts
in the median strip are allowed only at crossinys of public streets. In the case
of the shopping center, tfis policy may not necessarily be the best solution.
gain, examinai`ion of the traffic flow will be he key fuctor in determining
a solution to this problema We vould suggest no immdiate action on the
proposal pendinc- more detailed examination of the point ncted,
