<br />The Contra;:tor shall examine all material furnished by the Owner at the time and
<br />place of deliver,�, and sha11 zeject all defective material. Any defective material`' -
<br />furnished by the Owner and not rejected by the Contractor, and discovered prior to
<br />final_ acceptance of the work, wi11 be replaced with sound material by the Owner and.
<br />the (lwner will furnish suc.h additional material and supplies as may be necessary to
<br />install such replaced material; the Contractor, however, sha1J_ remove the defective
<br />material and install the rep.laced material at his own expense, furnishing all the
<br />labor and facilities necessary to complete the work to the satisfaction of the
<br />Engineer.
<br />Replacement �f Damaged Material: Any material furnished by the Owner that b�comes
<br />damaged af ter acceptance by the Contractor, shall be replaced by the Contractor afi
<br />his own expensee
<br />Responsibility for Safe Storage: The Contractor sha11 be responsible for the
<br />safe storage of material furnished by or to him, and accepted by him, and intended
<br />for the work, until it has been incorporated in the completed projecte
<br />HANDLING PIPE AND ACCESSORIES:
<br />Pipe and other accessories shall, ur.less otherwise directed, be unloaded at the
<br />point of delivery, hauled to and distributed at the site of the project by the
<br />Contractor; they shall at a11 times be handled with care to avoid damagea
<br />ALIGNMENT AND GRADE:
<br />24054.1 General: A11 pipe shall be laid and maintained to the required lines and grades;
<br />with tees, wyes and manholes at the required locations; and with joints centered
<br />and spigots home.

<br />y er i ity tructures. Whenever existing utility
<br />structures or branch connections leading to main sewers or to main drains, or
<br />other conduits, ducts, pipes, or structures present obstructions to the grade and
<br />alignment of the pipe, they sha11 be permanently supported, removed, relocated :
<br />�Y reconstructed by the Contractor through co-operation with the Owner of the
<br />utility, stru�ture or obstruction involved. In those instances where their
<br />relocation or reconstruction is impracticable, a deviation from line and grade
<br />will be ordered, and the change shall be made in the manner directed, and with
<br />extra compensation allowed therefor. This section shall govern unless and
<br />except where modified by the "Special Provisions", or "Specific Requirements"e
<br />Deviation with Engineer's Consent: No deviation sha11 be made from the required
<br />line or grade except with the writt-en consent of the Engineer,
<br />24054�5 Subsurface Exploration: Whenever necessary to determine the location of �xisting
<br />� pipes, valves, or other underground structures, the Contractor, after examination
<br />of available records and upon the written order of the Engineer, shall make all
<br />exploration and excavation for such purpose, extra compensation shall be allocaad
<br />� therefor, the me�hod of payment to be as provided in the "Special Provisions".
<br />24054�6 Overhead Utilities and Obstructions: Overhead utilities, poles, etc. shall be
<br />� protected againsr damage by the Contractor, and if damaged by the Contractor, shall
