A1 Kelir was i» to discuss progress towards solution to his
townhouse projects off of County Road C, westerly of Dale. T}lere are three
areas of principal concern wllich include support for rincieallteHelen Smitle
roadvay, opposition on the part of some landowners (p p Y
to the west of the north-south roadway), ancl solution to the cul-de-sac
turnaround facility. Mr. Kehr noted his discussion of Uuilding and fire
code officials at the State level. We suggested lie meet with the Fire Chief
and/or t]F ire PIarshal to evolve a successful solution. He showed us a
sketch n expanded roadway at the turn in the road, to which we offered
a revis version expanding the turnaround area for Planning Commission
consideration (see tlie P•9arch Planning reports for more detail regarding
this proposal) .
12) Koltler - 481-9007. 9alt Kohler is the new owner of tlie Dairy Queen across
from the Lake Josephine Beacli, east of Lexington Avenue. I-iis soi-in-law,
Dan Smith, is the operator, who was also witliliim at our meeting. We
again discussed details regarding what he sliould do to expand tlie facility
to provide a drive-tlirough service. A basic ingredient would be a survey
inasmuch as there is considerable question as relationsllip of tlle building
and land to properties to the north, east, and where the exact location i.s
for the right-of-way for Lexington Avenue and tlle ltamsey County park area
to the soutll. We also discussed curbi.n g and parking surface requirements,
which are now far Uelow code rec{uirements. He noted too that the former
owner was also named Kohler, ancl lie is coicerned t}lat people think he is the
same person. His pOlIl'C is t}iat he intends to operate the facility better,
and have more concexn for its relationship to the community and th surrounding
properties. Tliey may or may iot consider sucli expaision for this season, due
to tlie time necessary for tlle approval process.
13) Lipshaltz - 488-0501.
