June 29, 1983
-2-
not want to proceed at all, if it required Planning Commission and/or
Council approval. The purpose of the garage or shed proposed was to house
an antique car he drives to work.
5) Stahl - 881-5610. Tom Stahl is an architect who represents the Mother
Tucker restaurant system which has had a site plan approval in the B-1
district at the northeast corner of TH 36 and 35W some years ago. TheY
are now back with a revised version of the plan, calling for a total of
319 seating capacity in 9,715 square feet of space. They have purchased
additional land from Dick Long, and proposed a site plan with approximately
144 cars. We discussed alte rnative locations for the building on the site,
which Mr. Stahl was going to study and discuss with us at a future date.
We suggested the location to the building should be convenient to the
majority of the parking area, rather than making people walk around the
building to the front door.
6) Grace Church - 633-6479. Paul Sentman and Dave Salack, a member and staff
person from the Grace Church, were in to discuss their long-range arrangements
for p arkin g, access, and development on their site at Hamline in the southeast
corner of Hamline and County Road B-2. They have to purchase three more
privately-owned lots before they could p roceed with theirosalsmand related
In the meantime, we talked about interim development prop
requirements. One item mentioned was a neessity for dedication of additional
right-of-way on Hamline Avenue and County Road S-2 at 49.5' from cente r line
of right-of-way. David Drown discussed drainaqe requirements and solutions.
7) Bilski - 920-9280. Julian Bilski, Jack Wilson, and Mr. Bratsch of Glacier
Fark Company, a subsidiary of Burlington Northern, were in to discuss the
ultimate timing potential for their property as relates to the proposed
bridge over 35W. We explained the various options for bridge location,
and discusse timing and implication of the tax increment district with
res,t to their land. As you know, the old Aart Truck Te rminal structures
have been torn down, and the land is now available for sale. They are
principally concerned with the timing of the bridge, hoping it can be
constructed soon rather than later. We estimated 1985 as a target.
0
8) Siqncrafters. Dave Howard, Robert Birch, Bob Johnson, and Cliff Lund were
in to discuss a possible proposal on the part of Signcrafters to build a
20,000 to 25,000 sq. ft. building, w.ith 5,000 sq. ft.. of offices at the
northwest corner of 35 and TH 36. Their proposal would be conditional
on their being allowed to construct two large billboards, similar to what
Naegele has done at the northwest corner of 494 and 35W in Bloomington.
Somehow they had gotten the impression the City of Roseville allowed billboards.
They explained the income from the billboards would be the only way to provide
the additional funds they would need in order to purchase the land. We explained
billboards are not allowed in Roseville, and ttiat this proposal would, therefore,
not be vorkable for the site.
