.,'
available parking on this lot. Apparently, HealthEast
Corporation is looking at leasing the garages on the site to
house a number of their trucks and equipment vehicles, and they
are also interested in leasing some office space. This site is
within Redevelopment District #1 and is part of the Tax Increment
Financing District, and the approval of this site involved
variances to the rear yard setback and allowed the aplicant to
greatly intensify the development of the back of the property in
exchange for the preservation of existing trees and green space
along the front af the building. We explained to Mr. Driessen.
that there was substantial justification throughout all of the
planning documents and the approved site plan to retain the green
space along the northern side oF Trunk Highway 36 along this
stretch. We told him that the City would be willing to look at
restriping the parking lot and to making some minor modifications
to the parking lot and to evaluate the impact of the expansion of
the parking into a portion of the front, but we made it vry
clear that these trees and this green space was a very important
part of the overall approval process and that it was very
unlikely that the City would be willing to allow them to expand
parking to the detriment of these rees and green space.
4.
