• possibility of going to a monument sign solution similar to the
Olive Garden Restaurant in Bloomington.
Yesterday I received a telephone call from Bob Kuepper's
secretary at Fine Associates telling me that Bub wouldn't be
available to come to the meeting today but that Fine Associates
had two concerns about the requirement of a monument sign on this
site. First of all, the entire planned unit development had been
developed with lots that had pylon signs either built on them or
available to them and two, that he was concerned that the very
large monumnt sign that has been built in Bloomington would
limit the visibility of their last remaining lot within this
development. Mr. Baldwin said that they were very interested in
cooperating with the City but at this time they were also very
concerned about the visibility of the restaurant being set back
from Snelling Avenue as far as it is. They are proposing to
request approval oi a pylon sign that meets al of the ordinance
requirements and that wi11 be a pylon sign.
6. Sue Meyer (854-8800)
Ms. Meyer came in to gain facts about the oppotunities for
improving the siqnage for the apartments that are located south
o Mcarrons Boulevard North and west of Rice Stret. In our
discussion, we determined that the existing sit signage is on
the church property across on th north side of McCarrons
Boulevard North and not on the lots that the apart:ents are
lacated on. We exlained to her tat this was a off _emise
advertising sign and not allowed by current code. Th a.rtments
are now under new management and thy are interesed in having
some temporary signage to kick off the grand openinq and to
announce the fact that he are uder new management. We gave
her two opies of the sign permit applicaion, ane for any
temporary signagP that they wish to re
any modificazon to the prmanent signage hat th y may rquest
approval of. e gave her a copy of the sign ordinance and
discussed the possibilities for new signaq on the site.
7. Mr. Goldlatt explained tat he had recentl
receiwed an assessment in the amount oi $13,000 for improvements
to Dionn Street to the north side of thir facility. The Sen3or
House oes n,t take 3ny access off o Dione and he was concred
about the fac that Me din't henefit from the improvments and
was inerestea in discussing the possiblity of gettfng a curb
cut off f Dionne and providing $om additonal parking for the
faciity ff of Dionne.
