Planning Office Hours
November 19, 1986
Page 5
This company owns five trailers, two tractors, and five
straight vehicles, occupying a total of 18,000 square feet
in two structures in the warehouse area north of County Road
-2, easterly of Cleveland. The
housing is a permitted use, althoughbthe ordinancehadoesnet
specifically allow "storage and moving" companies. I
suggested that the storage of trucks relevant to warehousing
should be confined to an area immediately contiguous to the
space utilized for warehousing, but that the storage of such
vehicles all over the area is not allowed.
I noted I will discuss this with the City Attorney
any definite decisions regarding the feasibility
continued occupancy of the site. They have a
within this complex so as to get away from the
immediately contiguous to Cleveland Avenue.
prior to
of their
location
location
Mr. Matson is a new owner, having purchased the buildings
recently from the Roberts Company. He notes his intent to
paint th exterior of the buildings and maLntain them well.
He, too, is cvncerned about the excessive parking of trucks
affecting the other tenants.
9. Gottlieb, 831-2326
Richard Gottlieb proposes to purchase the existing "Dusty's"
Iestaurant east of Snelling Avnue and remodel it to a
"erickoven Benerie." He notes that the structur on the
exterior, parking, and access wi11 all remain the same.
He proposs to paint or stain the exterior of the building
and remodel the intrior. I suggested a dark brown stain
for the extrior inasmuch as that would be more compatible
with th dark earth-tone color ot the bricic of the Comten
building next door to the south.
I noted that the sign can be changd if the square footage
remains th same.
If thr are no changs to the exteriar, parking, or access
no action is rquired by the Planning Commiss3on and/or
Council.
10. Adam, 646-4011
Paul Adam proposes to purchase the land south of his single
tamily lot, south of Ryan Street. He was inquiring as to
whther he coull build a free standing garage on the
property anr3 store his clump truck and bobcat. I noted that
th City ordinance allows for the parking of up to a ton and
on-half ton truck on a residential lot, but not a dump
truck or bobcat.
