SUBJECT: Amendments to Sign Ordinance
BACKGROUND '
;
1. in accordance with the request of the Village Council, the _ ;;
Plannin Cmmissian has rviewed the current Sign 4rdinance
l regulations wih the intent of recammending such adjustments
as may sem appropriate in view of the experience encountered
' Yrus far in i-ts application o
2o In considering such application it appeared that the principal
'`areaS of conflict are as follows:
aa One of the principal difficulties seems to be in the
application of the maximum sign area allowed in"B-2",
Y'3--3", and "SC" Districts which currently is set at
1Q sqe fto Though the 100 sqo fto maximum seems ;
perfectly reasonable for many businesses there appears
to be grounds for a proportional increase wherein such
} r
signs are set--baek a considerable distance from the street
frontage . _
°" ba For other than a nylon sign, the present ordinance makes
`,., no specific provision for a group of stores operating
` under a singl.•name; ieo a discount houseo Some accommo-
dati.on for sueh a sign would seem approriate in-as-much
'` as he rsual. discount operation ccs not involve separate -
 signs on the exterior for the'•various departments in the ;'
