Waldron <br />Conceptual Stage Review: Draft Truth in Housing <br />Program <br />l. After �eviewing the Maxfield housing study that the Council <br />had completed and based on the conaern that h�s been <br />continually discussed regarding the preservation of the City <br />housing stock, the Planning Commission has reviewed a number <br />of options relatinc� to this important, City wide priority. <br />2. The Planning Commission wanted to fully explore and discuss <br />this concept before suggestirig that you consider adopting <br />such a program. The members had this item 4n th+�ir wor}� <br />program for some time, but due to the late hour when i�t has <br />come up on many mee�ings, they have frequently def,erred <br />discussion. After concentrating on it at a recent special <br />meeting, the� are now prepareci to review it with you�. <br />(Briefly, truth in housing involves the use of existing, <br />certiifed inspectors, to analyze a hame before it can be <br />sold. The �ubs�:�uent report point� out any problems that <br />the buyer should be aware of before a purcha�e would e�ccur. <br />The owner is �nQ Yt r�quired to make any repairs subsequent to <br />th� comple�ed inspecti�n). <br />3. We have attached a copy of the program �hat c�uld be <br />utilized in Roseville. This prcagram is s�kill iz� its <br />conceptua�. stage thus, would you ple�se reviaw this <br />particular approach, and le� us k»ow if you would deem it to <br />be workable within the City and wh�ther it fs a pragram that <br />could be supported by the City Council. <br />
