REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 3/14/16 <br />Item No.: 8f <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Approve Terms of 2016-2018Teamsters Police Sergeants Contract <br />1 <br />B <br />ACKGROUND <br />2 <br />The City of Roseville has four collective bargaining units, the Police Sergeants - Teamsters; <br />3 <br />Police Officers- LELS; Maintenance Workers- IUOE Local 49, and the Fulltime Firefighters - <br />4 <br />IAFF. With approval of this contract the Maintenance Workers - IUOE Local 49 are the only <br />5 <br />group not settledfor 2016 and beyond. <br />6 <br />7 <br />This report is for the Police Sergeant5city employees participating in the <br />8 <br />bargaining unit. They are comprised of supervisory licensed law enforcement officers. The City <br />9 <br />and the union have a tentative agreement andthe contract terms will be implemented upon <br />10 <br />ratification of this contract. <br />11 <br />12 <br />The City and union reviewed and compared 10other Police department contracts in the metro <br />13 <br />area to negotiate this contract, as well as making internal comparisons. <br />14 <br />15 <br />City staff and union members from Teamstershave met and found common ground for a <br />16 <br />settlement on a contract that spansthree years. The membership has voted to accept the contract <br />17 <br />terms with implementation upon City Council approval and effective upon ratification. The <br />18 <br />following are the highlights of the contract: <br />19 <br />20 <br />CONTRACTDURATION: <br />21 <br />3 years from 1/1/16 - 12/31/18 <br />22 <br />WAGES&LONGEVITY: <br />23 <br />The City will provide a wage COLA for of the years of the contract as follows: <br />24 <br />25 <br />1/1/16increases all Teamster union classifications by 2.5%. <br />26 <br />1/1/17 increases all Teamster union classifications by 2.75%. <br />27 <br />1/1/18 increases all Teamster union classifications by 2.75%. <br />28 <br />29 <br />SPECIALTY PAY: <br />30 <br />A Sergeant assigned to the Investigations Unit as a Detective Sergeant will be added <br />31 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />
