Human Rights Commission Meeting Minutes May 18, 2016 Commissioners: Chair Wayne Groff, Molli Slade, Nicole Dailey, and Edward Johnson Youth Commissioners: Gabriel Cederberg, Elizabeth Hansel Commissioners Absent: Lisa Carey and Lauren Peterson Staff Present: Carolyn Curti Call to Order/Roll Call The Human Rights Commission (HRC) meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. Chair Groff requested roll call. Chair Groff stated there were openings on the Human Rights Commission and the Community Engagement Commission and encouraged residents to get involved. Approve Agenda Commissioner Slade moved and Commissioner Johnson seconded a motion to approve the agenda as presented. Motion passed unanimously. Swearing in Youth Commissioner Chair Groff swore in new Human Rights Youth Commissioner Elizabeth Hansel. Approve Minutes of April Meetings Commissioner Slade moved and Commissioner Dailey seconded a motion to approve the April 20 2016 meeting minutes as presented. Motion passed unanimously. Public Comment on Items Not on Agenda There being no one wishing to address the Commission of items not on the agenda, Chair Groff moved to the next agenda item. Old Business a.Rose Parade Chair Groff stated the Commission had prepared letters last year that read Human Rights on one side and Roseville on the other. Each member of the Commission could hold a letter and flip it. Ms. Curti stated she would purchase candy for the Commission to distribute. Chair Groff stated he had contacted the Karen Organization and asked Ms. Curti to follow up with them. Commissioner Slade asked if Youth Commission Hansel would talk to the Human Rights group at the High School and see if they would join the HRC in the parade.
