Regular City Council Meeting <br />Monday, August 22, 2016 <br />Page 2 <br />In addition, while there was discussion about having a second meeting with the Karen <br />community, Mayor Roe advised that the Karen Organization of Minnesota (KOM) felt <br />they had reached a point of fatigue in providing so much input, and had suggested alter- <br />native methods for the KOM to lead future input efforts. <br />City Manager Trudgeon announced the next monthly Roseville Business Council meeting <br />scheduled at Affinity Credit Union, hosted in part by the City of Roseville, St. Paul <br />Chamber of Commerce and Twin Cities North Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Trudgeon <br />noted the topic of this morning meeting would be hearing from the Superintendents of <br />School Districts 621 and 623. Mr. Trudgeon suggested this was a good opportunity to <br />network, and clarified that no R.S.V.P. was needed. <br />6. Recognitions, Donations and Communications <br />a. MRPA Award for Roseville Natural Resources Program <br />Assistant Parks & Recreation Director Jill Anfang provided a brief review of the <br />Roseville Parks Stewardship Network volunteer initiative, and recognized Rose- <br />ville Parks Superintendent Jeff Evenson, Stantec Consulting representatives, and <br />Roseville Volunteer Coordinator Kelly O'Brien. Ms. Anfang Jill announced that <br />Mr. Evenson was moving on to employment with the City of Maple Grove, thank- <br />ing him for his efforts for Roseville, and wishing him well. Ms. Anfang intro- <br />duced MRPA representative Mr. Chris Fleck (City of Woodbury Recreation Spe- <br />cialist). <br />MRPA Representative Mr. Chris Fleck <br />Mr. Fleck briefly summarized the work of the Minnesota Recreation and Park As- <br />sociation (MRPA) and presented their 2015 Award of Excellence in the Volunteer <br />Initiatives category for Roseville's Stewardship Network. <br />Mr. Evenson thanked the City Council for their support over the years, and noted <br />how rewarding it had been to see the interest in the Park Renewal Program and <br />expressed his enjoyment in being part of the effort. <br />Mayor Roe thanked Mr. Evenson for his leadership in the effort. <br />Councilmember Willmus thanked the MRPA for this recognition, noting what an <br />awesome investment volunteers made to the community; and thanked Mr. Even- <br />son for his hands-on approach over the last few years in the Park Renewal Pro- <br />gram. <br />On behalf of the community and City Council, Mayor Roe accepted the award <br />from Ms. Fleck. Mayor Roe recognized Mr. Evenson's key role in the Park Re- <br />newal Program as providing the calm hand at the helm, and thanked him for those <br />efforts from the beginning of the Park Master Plan process, and the excellent job <br />
