New Business a.Nominations for Chair and Vice Chair (to be voted on at November meeting) Ms. Curti stated Commissioner Slade had been elected as the Vice Chair until November and the Chair position also opens in November. She reviewed the duties of each position. She stated they could take nominations today or in November. She stated she would also look at the terms for each Commissioner and let the Commission know. It was the consensus to take nominations and vote at the November meeting with the Chair and Vice Chair taking over at the December meeting. b.Karen Organization of Minnesota Gala Ms. Curti provided the information on the Karen Organization Gala. The HRC has attended in the past. The Commission would purchase tickets for Commissioners interested in attending. Chair Groff stated there is a meal and speakers at the event. Commissioner Slade suggested the Commission make a donation on behalf of the Commission since they would not be able to attend the event. Commissioner Slade moved and Commission Carey seconded a motion to make a donation of $200 to the Karen Organization of Minnesota on behalf of the Roseville Human Rights Commission. Motion passed unanimously. Chair’s Report Chair Groff stated he had nothing additional at this time. Youth Commissioner Report Youth Commissioner Hansel stated the Teens for Human Rights Club had its third meeting and attendance has been increasing. They are partnering with teachers to hold a mock election on October 29. The votes will be sent to the office of the Secretary of State. The Club is looking at doing events for women’s rights, LGBT and racial inequality. Staff Report Ms. Curti stated she would be busy until after the election and there will be voting at City Hall. Future Agenda Items Chair Groff stated the election would be on the next agenda.
