Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />October 19, 2016Draft Minutes <br />Page 5of6 <br />181 <br />Chair Groff stated he would suggest the Commission move forward with promoting the showing <br />182 <br />onsored by Do Good Roseville. <br />183 <br />184 <br />New Business <br />185 <br />186 <br />a.Nominations for Chair and Vice Chair (to be voted on at November meeting) <br />187 <br />Ms. Curti stated Commissioner Slade had been elected as the Vice Chair until November and the <br />188 <br />Chair position also opens in November. She reviewed the duties of each position. She stated <br />189 <br />they could take nominations today or in November. She stated she would also look at the terms <br />190 <br />for each Commissioner and let the Commission know. <br />191 <br />192 <br />It was the consensus to take nominations and voteat the November meeting withthe Chair and <br />193 <br />Vice Chair takingover at the December meeting. <br />194 <br />195 <br />b.Karen Organization of Minnesota Gala <br />196 <br />Ms. Curti provided the information on the Karen Organization Gala. The HRC has attended in <br />197 <br />the past. The Commission would purchase tickets for Commissioners interested in attending. <br />198 <br />199 <br />Chair Groff stated there is a meal and speakers at the event. <br />200 <br />201 <br />Commissioner Slade suggested the Commission make a donation on behalf of the Commission <br />202 <br />since they would not be able to attend the event. <br />203 <br />204 <br />Commissioner Slade moved and Commission Carey seconded a motion to make a donation of <br />205 <br />$200 to the Karen Organization of Minnesota on behalf of the Roseville Human Rights <br />206 <br />Commission. Motion passed unanimously. <br />207 <br />208 <br />209 <br />Chair Groff stated he had nothing additional at this time. <br />210 <br />211 <br />Youth Commissioner Report <br />212 <br />Youth Commissioner Hansel stated theTeens for Human Rights Club had its third meeting and <br />213 <br />attendance has been increasing. They are partnering with teachers to hold a mock election on <br />214 <br />October 29. The votes will be sent to the office of the Secretary of State. The Club is looking at <br />215 <br />doing <br />216 <br />217 <br />Staff Report <br />218 <br />Ms. Curti stated she would be busy until after the election and there will be voting at City Hall. <br />219 <br />220 <br />Future Agenda Items <br />221 <br />Chair Groff stated the election would be on the next agenda. <br />222 <br />223 <br /> <br />
