Code Amendment Considerations ЌЍ Although Motor Freight Terminal is not listed in the 2010 Zoning Code use table, a ЌЎ definition and references to Motor Freight Terminal are included in the 2010 Code ЌЏ revision (see below). In light of these inclusions, Planning Division staff met to discuss ЌА whether the omission of Motor Freight Terminal as a Conditional Use was purposeful in ЌБ 2010 or simply an oversight, and, if it was an oversight, what would be the best way to ЌВ address it. ЍЉ ЍЊ Excerpts from the 2010 Zoning Code ЍЋ Motor freight terminal: A building or area in which freight brought by motor truck is ЍЌ assembled and/or stored for routing in intrastate or interstate shipment by motor truck. ЍЍ 1006.05 Industrial (I) District ЍЎ A.Statement of Purpose: The Industrial District is designed to provide suitable sites for ЍЏ manufacturing, assembly, processing, warehousing, laboratory, distribution, related office ЍА uses, and truck/transportation terminals. The district is also designed to: ЍБ 1. Minimize any external physical effects of such operations on surrounding less intensive ЍВ uses; ЎЉ 2. Encourage and facilitate pedestrian, bicycle, and transit access throughout the ЎЊ industrial areas of the city; and ЎЋ 3. Encourage development of an attractive and well landscaped physical environment ЎЌ within the industrial areas of the city. Staff determined that the Code adopted in 2010 should have listed Motor Freight ЎЍ Terminal as a Conditional Use in the Industrial District and there should have been a ЎЎ few specific criteria developed to address placement of trailers and potential impacts to ЎЏ adjacent properties. ЎА Planning Division staff also discussed whether Motor Freight Terminal was meant to be ЎБ grouped with another use, such as warehousing and distribution, and concluded that ЎВ since there was no definition of distribution nor was there a mention of freight terminal ЏЉ and distribution in the warehousing definition (see below), motor freight terminal was ЏЊ not meant to be included in the warehousing and distribution use.
