A Proposal for the 2040 Comprehensive Plan Update for the City of Roseville <br />Karina Heim (WSB) <br />Community Planner <br /> Masters of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Minnesota, 2016 | <br />Education: <br />Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies Ð Sociology, Whitman College, 2009 <br />Karina is a land use planner and public engagement specialist at WSB. Karina is a 2016 <br />graduate from the University of Minnesota with a Masters of Urban and Regional Planning. <br />While working with WSB, Karina has assisted in developing and deploying public engagement <br />for the St. Anthony Village, Medina and Minnetrista Comprehensive Plans. Before joining WSB, <br />Karina worked four years in the non-proÞ t sector as a case manager and program coordinator <br />in the housing and basic needs services sector. Karina will provide support on all planning <br /> orts for RosevilleÕs 2040 Comprehensive Plan Update. <br />Community Planner <br />As a planner with WSB, Karina has gained broad planning experience ranging from zoning administration to public <br />engagement strategy. During the 2040 Comprehensive Plan cycle, Karina has assisted in helping a variety communities <br /> erent needs meet Metropolitan Council plan requirements. In addition, Karina has provided excellent customer <br />service by working with property owners to answer questions and ensure that applications are handled in a timely matter. <br />Capstone Project | City of Minneapolis* <br />Through a grant-funded project, Karina helped to design and carry out a climate change vulnerability assessment for <br /> orts and communicated regularly <br /> to gather and incorporate feedback into the project design. The Þ ndings from this assessment will <br /> orts and actions to address climate change vulnerability. <br />GIS Specialist | University of Minnesota Extension* <br />During her tenure as an applied research assistant with UMN ExtensionÕs Family Development team, Karina pioneered <br />a new GIS mapping initiative to help generate spatial data and tell compelling stories about health and nutrition <br /> to discover what gaps in functionality could be Þ lled with GIS spatial <br /> , Karina developed the map design and user interface for new spatial applications. <br />Curriculum-Based Project | City of Saint Anthony* <br />Karina worked as a lead member of a team to design a community engagement plan for the City of Saint Anthony in <br />anticipation of their comprehensive planning process. Throughout the project, Karina facilitated communication between <br /> and the planning team to hone key messages and discover the greatest engagement challenges. <br />Karina led planning design meetings and developed key creative content for the Þ nal plan document. <br />*Experience prior to WSB <br />12 <br /> <br />
