Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />January 18, 2017 <br />Page 5 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Peterson asked if the date for the next event had been scheduled. <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated there had not been a date set but staff would work on this as time permitted. <br /> <br />Chair Groff asked if the Commission could assist in moving this event forward so that people <br />remain involved. <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated she would bring this to City Manager Trudgeon. Commissioner Carey stated the <br />first conversation had been recorded and is currently available for people to watch. <br /> <br /> <br />b.Update on Naturalization Ceremony <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated the Naturalization Ceremony was scheduled for Wednesday, May 24, at 10:00 <br />am. The event will be held at the Skating Center. She stated the HRC had spent $100 in 2016 for <br />refreshments for this event. <br /> <br /> <br />c.2017 Calendar <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated she would update the March meeting date and confirm the One World Multi- <br />Cultural event date. Commissioner Dailey stated the next HRC meeting is February 15. <br /> <br />Ms. Curti stated the Bloomington Human Rights Commission would be hosting the exhibit for <br />Fredrick Douglass from Slavery to Freedom: The Journey to New York City from February 8 to <br />February 28. The Ramsey County Library would be hosting Duchess Harris on African- <br />American History in NASA and a series on Islam in the West. <br /> <br />Chair Groff stated he had attended Breaking the Myths of Islam at the Library last week. <br /> <br />Future Agenda Items <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Eichenlaub stated he has received information from the League of Women Voters <br />and they were going to have a panel on affordable housing on February 21. <br /> <br />Adjournment <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Eichenlaub moved and Commissioner Slade seconded a motion to adjourn. <br />Motion passed unanimously.
