,eville MN 55113
iary 30, 2017
eville City Council
of Roseville
Civic Center Drive
Seville MN 55113
read with chagrin the article in the December 15, 2016's Star Tribune about actions
City Council is taking to effectively drive the Har Mar Pet Shop out of business and
3 frankly, we feel outraged. And all we can think is "Why the witch hunt? "
Har Mar Pet Shop has been a responsible place to buy pets for many years. The
oers are dog breeders themselves. They are responsible pet suppliers who buy from
table breeders. Mr. Papineau himself visits the breeders to be certain they are not
py mills. Our vet recommended them to us and she, herself, bought her dog from
n. They do not sell animals from puppy mills. We have bought puppies from them
were healthy, well-cared for, socialized animals. I have been in the pet shop many
s at all times of the day and days of the week. I have personally observed that the
mals are clean, well fed, the cases are cleaned regularly and the animals are
{thy. If someone thinks there is a "stench" - well, welcome to live animals.
nal rescue groups have slandered these owners for years. I have seen the
7 taints online aboutpuppy mill
puppies and unclean conditions. If
you cannot
right
nonstrate that the owners sell puppy mill puppies, you are encroaching on their
ell products for which is there is demand. Everyone does not want a rescue animal.
i while we have sympathy for animals that have been abused and abandoned, we
i't believe that all of us who are pet lovers should be forced to buy or adopt rescue
nals. We have the right to choose to buy puppies from a reputable shop. This
'kly sounds like the rescue groups run amok.
also respect the Humane Society for their good work. And we have purchased
;pies from them that were of unknown, unspecified breed. We have also looked into
aining a rescue dog. If a rescue group gets an animal that doesn't have a history of
,se, abandonment and serious behavioral issues, there are 50 people waiting to
)pt that dog. And forget getting a small puppy that doesn't shed. I have had that
ict experience. So those of us who do not want to bring home an animal with
otional and behavioral problems will be left without an option to buy a healthy, well-
d, dog of the breed we choose in the city of Roseville. This is impinging on our right
)uy the kind of dog we want from a local reputable shop and a reputable breeder.
I
