The Commission had approved
spending up to $300 for this event. This will be a three-part film series and the showings will be
March 1, March 8, and March 15 at the Ramsey County Library.

b.Update on Gray Matters presentation January 19
Ms. Curti stated about 10 people had attended the event. The discussion was depression in older
adults. Several of the attendees talked with the presenter. Even though the event was not large
the impact was felt. There had been discussion about having additional mental health forums and
the moderator of the event stated she prefers to do only one event in each City because she is the
only presenter for this particular topic. She stated there are other topics the City could look into
within NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).

Commissioner Slade suggested reaching out to Advocates of Victims of Torture in southeast
Minneapolis, Center for Victims of Torture, and Immigrant Trauma and see what type of
presentations or discussions they have for communities.

Commissioner Eichenlaub suggested tabling additional discussion about topics and forming a
sub-committee until the March Commission meeting.

c.Essay Contest

Ms. Curti stated they had received 120 essays and four Commission members are currently
reviewing these. These members will then determine the top essays to be considered by the full
Commission by March 22. The full Commission will then have 2 weeks to read and score these
essays. The Commission will review and select the top essays at their April 19 meeting. The
winners will be invited to attend a May Council meeting. She stated the Commission will need
to determine which Council meeting they would like to do the presentation at and what the
awards will be.

d.Collaboration with Roseville Area High School

Chair Groff stated there has been no update since the last Commission meeting. The Multi
Cultural event does have a meeting every Wednesday if any of the Commissioners wish to
attend.
