He suggested that <br />unique food offerings could potentially draw in non-golfers who are looking for a dining <br />option. <br />Commission Chair Newby questioned if there is room at Cedarholm to support a unique <br />restaurant venue. McIlwain stated that there is potential space for a restaurant utilizing the <br />gathering space area. Commissioner O’Brien offered that arestaurant would inhibit the use <br />of the building as a rental facility. Commissioner Warzecha noted the limited parking <br />options. <br />•Develop astrong inside-outside relationship with decks and patios <br />•Outdoor spaces to have unique and quality features (fire pit, shade, grill, etc.) <br />•All spaces to be accessible <br />•Take advantage of lower level opportunities due to site topography <br />•Improve the Maintenance Facility <br />Operational Goals <br />•Improve staff efficiency for golf check in and food service <br />•Improve food and beverage offerings <br />•Integrate retail into the entry rather than an enclosed shop space <br />•Relocate cart storage to reduce staff time and congestion at the Maintenance Building <br />Commissioner Heikkila offered the suggestion of adding bike parking on site to complimentthe limited <br />parking options. Parking is at a premium currently and opportunities to expand will be exploredby HCM. <br />McIlwain explained that the next step istocreate a Master Plan that would include space goals and cost per <br />square foot.The Master Plan would include the maintenance operations –even if those plans were <br />completed as a future project. <br />Commissioner O’Brien requested additional details on what was discussed during the Cedarholm Advisory <br />Committee in regards to the potential for a restaurant. In response, CommissionerStoner relayedthatthe <br />restaurant wasone of the top fiveissues that came upduring the CedarholmAdvisory Team meetings. <br />Commissioner Stoner also commented that he has concerns regarding the parking if a “destination <br />restaurant”is added. However, he does believe that looking at the option of a restaurant could answer many <br />of the multi-use topics that were discussed during the Cedarholm Advisory Committee meetings. <br />Public Comment <br />Dave Holt,the facilitatorof the Cedarholm Golf Course Clubhouse Replacement Advisory Team,relayed <br />that the overall group recommendation was for the Clubhouse to provide good quality food for the golfers, <br />tournaments and catering events.As spaceand parkingat Cedarholm is at a premium compared to other <br />“destination restaurants”the main focus of Cedarhom should be as a Golf Clubhouse. <br />Commissioner O’Brien notedthat a restaurant would be a completelydifferent philosophical direction from <br />what was recommended by the Cedarholm Advisory Team. <br />Commissioner Stoner questioned the different size needs based on a“nice restaurant for golfers”vs. a <br />“destination restaurant”.
