BIOLOGICALCONTROL <br />ppingmethodsforparasitoidrecoveryoverthesummerof <br />TheMDAandDNRpartneredtotestyellowpantra <br />2016.AprotocolandpantrapswereprovidedbyUSDAAHPIS.Yellowplasticbowlswereattachedtothestems <br />oflivingashtreesusingshelvingbrackets.Thebowlswerefilledwithclearpropyleneglycoltotrapinsectsthat <br />wereattractedtotheyellowcolor.Sampleswerecollectedfromthetrapstwiceaweekfrom06/03/16to <br />09/09/16.Samplinginvolvedpouringthepropyleneglycolthroughafilterandthenbaggingandfreezing <br />contents.Panswerethenfilledwithnewpropyleneglycol.Atotalof870sampleswerecollected,frozenthen <br />examinedinOctoberandNovember.SampleswerescreenedforsuspectedparasitoidswhichweresenttoUSDA <br />APHISforidentification.Thismethodresultedin5 Tetrastichusplanipennisi and9 Atanycolussimplex cresson(a <br />nativeparasitoidofEAB).Therecoveryof T.planipennisi isthefirstintheTwinCities. <br />Figure 4. Snelling S.P. <br />TheMDAcontinuestocollectandprocessbarksamplesfromEABbiocontrolreleasesiteswiththegoalof <br />recoveringtheeggparasitoid,Oobiusagrili.OneparasitizedEABeggwasrecoveredfromasampletakenatFt. <br />SnellingStateParkon11/2/2016.Thismarksthesecondtimeintwoyearsthat O.agrili hasbeenrecovered <br />fromtheparkindicatingtheparasitoidwaspisestablishedatthesite. <br />RESEARCH <br />ͻƩğĭƉźƓŭtheEABInfestation/ƚƩĻͼstudyisnearlycompletewithonly7 <br />treesremainingtobesampledonelasttime.Ofthe109studytrees,30have <br />beenfoundtobeinfestedsofar.Oncesamplingiscomplete,datawillbe <br />analyzedattheUofMwithfinalconclusionsavailableinAugust.Resultswill <br />beincludedinthefinalreporttoLCCMRfortheprojectBiosurveillanceand <br />BiocontrolofEAB.Resultsfromall6yearsofthestudycanbeviewedat <br />http://www.mda.state.mn.us/plants/pestmanagement/eab/eabbiocontrol/trackeab.aspx <br /> <br />
