REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL ACTION <br />05/09/2016 <br /> Agenda Date: <br /> Agenda Item: <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: City Council discussion and direction on tree replacement fee dollars and <br />replacement planting flexibility (. <br />) <br />PROJ0017, Amdt27 <br />B <br />ACKGROUND <br />1 <br />On March 14, 2016 the City Council approved a $500 tree replacement fee in the Fee Schedule <br />2 <br />outlined in City Code. The City Council directed staff to return at a later date to discuss a tree <br />3 <br />replacement policy that would determine how fees, as a result of tree replacement, are used. <br />4 <br />Additionally, the City Council discussed expanding Section 1011.04.J.8 of the recently adopted <br />5 <br />Tree Preservation and Restoration Requirements in City Code to include private land that may be <br />6 <br />adjacent to a proposed development area. <br />7 <br />1011.04.J.8.a reads as follows: <br />8 <br />a. <br />As directed by the City, required replacement trees may be located on public boulevards or <br />9 <br />other public lands throughout the City if such lands are deemed to be available with priority <br />10 <br />given to locations within or near the affected area; or <br />11 <br />SR/CCA <br />TAFF ECOMMENDATIONITYOUNCILCTION <br />12 <br />Discuss a policy to better determine how and where tree replacement dollars should be used, and <br />13 <br />discuss amending Section 1011.04.J.8 to include public or private land in the development area. <br />14 <br />Prepared by: Thomas Paschke, City Planner, 651-792-7074 <br />thomas.paschke@cityofroseville.com <br />Attachments: March 14 CC minutes <br />PROJ0017_Amdt27_RCA_051616 <br />Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br />
