TR&RFP <br />REEEPLACEMENTEPLACEMENTUNDOLICY <br />As a component of the recently adopted Tree Preservation and Restoration in all <br />Districts ordinance, the City is responsible for collecting funds for tree replacement <br />when a site is no longer capable of accommodating additional trees. The fee collected is <br />$500 per tree or up to a maximum of 10% of the fair market value of the property. As <br />the funds are collected a separate account will be created in order to manage the funds. <br />The following are the policy points discussed by the City Council on May 9, 2016 <br />concerning the tree replacement fund. <br />The City Council shall establish a policy whereby tree replacement funds for a <br />given project are identified for installation within a two year timeframe. <br />The City Council shall establish a policy that creates a hierarchy of tree <br />replacement fund installation locations, including: <br />Retention of tree fund expenditures within the general area of the subject <br />o <br />development/redevelopment site or one quarter mile. <br />Consideration given to seeking requests from adjacent properties and/or the <br />o <br />surrounding neighborhood to determine interest in the provision of a tree(s) <br />for private property owner planting. <br />Expenditure of tree replacement funds on tree restoration associated with a <br />o <br />public improvement project in the general area or one quarter mile from the <br />subject project site. <br />Determination of tree replacement funds on public lands within the general <br />o <br />area or one quarter mile from the subject project site. <br />The City Council shall review and approval all expenditure of tree replacement <br />fund dollars. <br /> <br />
