Human Rights Commission Meeting Minutes April 19, 2017 Commissioners: Chair Wayne Groff, Lisa Carey, John Eichenlaub, Nicole Dailey, Lauren Peterson, and Etienne Djevi Youth Commissioners: Elizabeth Hansel Commissioners Absent: Edward Johnson, Youth Commissioner Cederberg Staff Present: Carolyn Curti Call to Order/Roll Call The Human Rights Commission (HRC) meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. Chair Groff requested roll call. Approve Agenda Chair Groff stated the City Council requested Item 6A, election of Chair and Vice Chair be tabled to the May meeting when the combination of the Human Rights Commission and Community Engagement Commission will be complete. Commissioner Peterson moved and Commissioner Eichenlaub seconded a motion to approve the agenda as amended. Motion passed unanimously. Swearing in of New Commission Chair Groff administered the Oath of Office for the Human Rights Commission to Mr. Etienne Djevi. Approve Minutes of March 29, 2017 Meeting Commissioner Carey moved and Commissioner Dailey seconded a motion to approve the March 29, 2017 meeting minutes as presented. Motion passed unanimously. Public Comment on Items Not on Agenda Alicia Abler, student from Northwestern, stated she is currently working on a project about human rights focusing on gender equity. She asked if the Commission would be hosting any events with this focus. Chair Groff stated the Commission has not done anything specific on gender equity in the last few years. He stated the Commission did host a movie regarding women’s voting rights in 2016. Ms. Abler stated she is looking at the pay gap as a topic. Ms. Curti stated the City follows all EEOC guidelines and there is equal pay for City employees. She suggested Ms. Abler contact the Roseville League of Women Voters.
