Human Rights Commission Meeting Minutes March 29, 2017 Commissioners: Chair Wayne Groff, Molli Slade, John Eichenlaub, Nicole Dailey, Lauren Peterson, and Lisa Carey Youth Commissioners: Elizabeth Hansel Commissioners Absent: Commissioner Edward Johnson and Youth Commissioner Gabriel Cederberg Staff Present: Carolyn Curti Call to Order/Roll Call The Human Rights Commission (HRC) meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. Chair Groff requested roll call. Approve Agenda Commissioner Slade moved and Commissioner Peterson seconded a motion to approve the agenda as presented. Motion passed unanimously. Approve Minutes of February 15, 2017 Meeting Youth Commissioner Hansel stated on line 25 the date should be changed to January 18, 2017. Chair Groff stated in line 47 insert “at” prior to “as”, line 55 change “here” to “three”, line 60 change “thought” to “though”. Commissioner Eichenlaub moved and Commissioner Peterson seconded a motion to approve the February 15, 2017 meeting minutes as amended. Motion passed unanimously. Public Comment on Items Not on Agenda There being no one wishing to address the Commission on items not on the agenda, Chair Groff moved to the next item on the agenda. Old Business a.Update on Subcommittee to combine Human Rights Commission and Community Engagement Commission Commissioner Peterson stated the subcommittee would be meeting on March 30. Commissioner Carey stated the HRC would need to have clear direction on what they are tasked with doing as a whole. Chair Groff asked Commissioner Peterson to let the subcommittee know that the Commission had reviewed and updated the Commission goals and objectives. He also stressed that Human Rights should be part of the title for the new Commission. He pointed out that there had been 11 applicants for the open Human Rights Commission seats.
