To:Parks and Recreation Commission <br />From:Lonnie Brokke <br />Date:May 24, 2017 <br />Re:Notes for Commission Meeting onJune 6, 2017 <br />Introductions <br />1. <br />Public Comment Invited <br />2. <br />Approval of Minutes of the May 2,2017Meeting <br />3. <br />Enclosed is a copy of the minutes ofMay 2, 2017.Please be prepared to approve/amend. <br />Requested Commission Action:Approve/amend meetingminutesof May 2, 2017. <br />City Comprehensive Plan - Parks and Recreation System Master Plan Review and <br />4. <br />Update <br />At your May meeting, a discussionoccurred about an approach to review the Goals and <br />Policies in the Parks and Recreation System Master Plan that will eventually substitute <br />those in the Parks, Open Space and Recreation Section in the Comprehensive Plan. <br />Inc <br />luded in your packet is a review worksheetto begin.The Goals and Policies are <br />identified with columns provided indicating if you feel that they should be kept,deleted or <br />revised. These Goals and Policies are relatively recent that were developed by the <br />Community and adopted by the City Council in November of 2010.Please plan to review <br />this priorto the meeting and we can get as far down the list as possibleand at a pace that <br />you are comfortable. We will plan to focus on Goaland Policies#1 at the June meeting. <br />Requested Commission Action:Review Goals and Polices #1 <br />Cedarholm Community BuildingReplacement Update <br />5. <br />Work continues with the Design Development Services(Task #1)and Plansand <br />Specifications(Task #2)for the Cedarholm Community Building. <br />At this point, itis anticipated that Task # 1 will be completed and presented to the City <br />Council on Monday, June 5, 2017 and that Task #2 will be completed and presented to the <br />City Council on July 10, 2017. At the end of Task #2, specific building Plans and <br />Specifications will be completeand we would be requesting City Council action to advertise <br />for proposals for a project. <br />A <br />t your meeting, staff will be prepared to provide you with the latest information and gather <br />any additional input from you. <br />This topic is a regular agenda item each month in order to keep the Commission updated, <br />allow for continued community input, and to gather advice. <br />Requested Commission Action:Review, update, provide feedback. <br />Discuss and prepare for joint meeting with the CityCouncil <br />6. <br />The joint meeting with the Parks and Recreation Commission and City Council will be on <br />Monday, June 19, 2017.Generally,it is one of the first items onthe agenda.We will get <br />you the agenda when it is available to us, whichis generally the Thursday prior to the <br />Monday meeting. <br />In May, you reviewed and suggested modifications of a typical Request for City Council <br />Action memo. Included in your packet isthat modified version to review and finalize.This <br />is the last Parks and Recreation Commission meeting prior to the jointmeeting so please <br />be prepared to finalizethemeeting approach as you are comfortable. <br /> <br />
