Finance Commission Minutes <br />May 9, 2017 – Draft Minutes <br />Page 7 of 8 <br /> <br />Finance Director Miller suggested he Commission also determine if they are looking for this 271 <br />information as an advisory Commission or as individuals. If they proceed as a Commission he 272 <br />recommended a vote to ensure the Commission is supportive. 273 <br /> 274 <br />Commissioner Murray sated the Commission could have a vote to ask the Police Chief how best 275 <br />to utilize these funds. 276 <br /> 277 <br />Chair Schroeder clarified the she would like to know what their plans are for and additional 278 <br />education on the funds not the process they use to spend the funds. 279 <br /> 280 <br />Commissioner Hodder suggested voting on an action at the next meeting. 281 <br /> 282 <br />Commissioner Murray suggested he and Chair Schroeder talk with the Police Chief informally. 283 <br /> 284 <br />Chair Schroder agreed. 285 <br /> 286 <br /> 287 <br />Identify Discussion Items for the Future Meeting 288 <br /> 289 <br />Chair Schroeder stated the next agenda would include review and discussion of the Audit. 290 <br /> 291 <br />Commission McRoberts asked what the process would be to approach the Council regarding IT 292 <br />security. 293 <br /> 294 <br />Finance Director Miller stated the Council has not taken interest in reviewing the City’s IT 295 <br />security measures. This is handled buy City Staff. He stated if Commissioner McRoberts and 296 <br />the Commission felt the Council should be asking questions about the City’s IT security then 297 <br />they could make a recommendation to the Council. He recommended the Commission review 298 <br />their charge into to be sure this would be within their scope. In this particular forum, they should 299 <br />be discussing Commission work. 300 <br /> 301 <br />Ms. Cynthis White stated the question raised by Commissioner McRoberts does bring into 302 <br />question the security of the City’s financial data. 303 <br /> 304 <br />Finance Director Miller stated he would provide a contact to Commissioner McRoberts to talk 305 <br />to. 306 <br /> 307 <br />Chair Schroeder stated he next agenda would also include the justification on the CIP report, 308 <br />continued discussions on the CIP, further discussion on the tours taken by the Commission and a 309 <br />review of the Commission Recommendation tracking report. 310 <br /> 311 <br />Commissioner Murray stated they would provide an update on the police forfeiture funds if they 312 <br />are able to. 313 <br /> 314 <br /> 315 <br />Item 3: Attachment A
