Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday, September 11, 2017 <br /> Page 2 <br /> stating the limits of the city's legal authority. Ms. Byrne opined that the resolu- <br /> tion was not sufficient and resulted in the anger of most of those attending that <br /> evening, and should not be the end of the city's work. Ms. Byrne referenced the <br /> response of Gov. Dayton to recent events and sought more city input into Ram- <br /> sey County's questioning of detainees in their facilities. Ms. Byrne stated that her <br /> comments were not intended to question the City Council's good work for the <br /> city, but further opined that they had more influence, power and responsibility <br /> than they had used; urging them to take action to advocate for Roseville residents. <br /> 5. Recognitions,Donations and Communications <br /> a. Proclaim September 22 Kiwanis Peanut Day <br /> Rick Soderstrom, Current President of North Suburban Golden K Kiwanis <br /> Club <br /> Mr. Soderstrom briefly reviewed this annual tradition of the organization, current- <br /> ly sixty active members strong, and highlighted some of the services they provid- <br /> ed. Mr. Soderstrom stated the mission of the organization "improving the world <br /> one child and one community at a time;" and invited others interested in this work <br /> to join their group. Mr. Soderstrom thanked the City Council for their ongoing <br /> support for their program. <br /> Mayor Roe thanked representatives of the club for their attendance tonight, and <br /> on behalf of the community thanked them for all they had done for individuals <br /> and the community as a whole over the years. <br /> Mayor Roe read a proclamation declaring September 22, 2017 Golden K Kiwanis <br /> Peanut Day, in recognition of the North Suburban Golden K Kiwanis Club's <br /> commitment to raise funds for its many and varied programs dedicated to helping <br /> community youth educationally and spiritually. <br /> Etten moved, Willmus seconded, proclaiming September 22, 2017 as Golden K <br /> Kiwanis Peanut Day. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Ayes: Willmus, Etten, McGehee, Laliberte and Roe. <br /> Nays: None. <br /> b. Proclaim Constitution Week <br /> Mayor Roe read a proclamation declaring September 17 — 23, 2017 as Constitu- <br /> tion Week, officially recognizing the 230' anniversary of the drafting of the Con- <br /> stitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention. <br /> Willmus moved, Etten seconded, proclaiming September 17—23, 2017 as Consti- <br /> tution Week, in recognition of the 230" anniversary of the drafting of the Consti- <br />
