Proclaim Hispanic Heritage Month <br /> Mayor Roe read a proclamation declaring September 15 — October 15, 2017 as <br /> Hispanic Heritage Month, inviting all members of the community to celebrate this <br /> year's theme"Shaping the Bright Future of America." <br /> Etten moved, Willmus seconded, proclaiming September 15 — October 15, 2015 <br /> as Hispanic Heritage Month in Roseville, MN. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Ayes: Willmus, Etten, McGehee, Laliberte and Roe. <br /> Nays: None. <br /> d. Introduce Volunteer Coordinator <br /> Assistant City Manager Rebecca Olson introduced Volunteer Coordinator Rachel <br /> Boggs and reviewed her background and expertise in the service enterprise and <br /> volunteer field. <br /> Volunteer Coordinator Boggs <br /> Ms. Boggs thanked the city and staff for the warm welcome; and expressed her <br /> excitement going forward, encouraging everyone to reach out for volunteer assis- <br /> tance as needed. <br /> 7. Items Removed from Consent Agenda <br /> 8. Business Items <br /> a. Police Civil Service Commission Meeting with the City Council <br /> Mayor Roe welcomed Chair Brad VenderVegt and Commissioner Randi Lundell <br /> to this joint meeting. <br /> Chair VanderVegt briefly reviewed the purpose of the commission, noting their <br /> most important work in supporting the Police system in attracting the brightest <br /> and best officer candidates to serve the Roseville community and public service <br /> needs. Even with the current demands of law enforcement officers, Chair <br /> VanderVegt noted the high level of retention of officers in Roseville. <br /> After living in Roseville for twenty-five years, Commissioner Lundell noted how, <br /> until being appointed to the Police Civil Service Commission, she had been una- <br /> ware of what a great police force the city had; and expressed her excitement in <br /> becoming involved in the Commission and its involvement in the community and <br />
