Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday, September 25, 2017 <br /> Page 15 <br /> With the next newsletter deadline in early January, Mayor Roe asked that staff <br /> and the consultant ensure the timing works for providing that public information. <br /> Mayor Roe reiterated the importance of open house options to elicit feedback <br /> from residents on future land use designation changes. <br /> Councilmember Laliberte encouraged staff to use listserves as much as possible <br /> to provide updates beyond simply Planning Commission agendas to allow the <br /> public more context and links to these discussions, including tonight's. <br /> Ms. Major duly noted that request. <br /> Mayor Roe thanked Ms. Major and staff for tonight's update, and reminded them <br /> to check-in with the HRIEC on lessons learned throughout this community en- <br /> gagement process that would prove helpful going forward. <br /> Recess <br /> Mayor Roe recessed the meeting at approximately 7:50 p.m., and reconvened at approximately <br /> 7:58 p.m. <br /> g. Consider a Concept Planned Unit Development (PUD) to Amend PUD 1177 <br /> (Centre Pointe Business Park) to allow College or Post-Secondary School, <br /> Office-Based, as a Permitted Use on 2955 Centre Pointe Drive (PF17-014) <br /> As detailed in the RCA and handouts made part of that report, City Planner <br /> Thomas Paschke briefly reviewed this request, and Planning Commission recom- <br /> mendations, and additional emails received after preparation of this report also <br /> provided as bench handouts. <br /> Mr. Paschke addressed a question raised after publication of the RCA as to the <br /> purchase date of this property by the University of Northwestern (May of 2017). <br /> Mr. Paschke also advised that the project had been extended additional 60-days <br /> for review and consideration of the Concept PUD. <br /> In concluding his comments, Mr. Paschke referenced the narrative included in the <br /> RCA and listed permitted uses within building types and job-related uses current- <br /> ly in place at Centre Pointe. Mr. Paschke advised that the request by the school <br /> was for expansion of their nursing and engineering programs at this building if <br /> this request is approved and incorporation of the definition in the heading for us- <br /> es. Mr. Paschke referenced the school's prior purchase of the former Edina Real- <br /> ty building at Terrace Drive and Lincoln as a similar use. <br /> University of Northwestern Representative, Doug Schroeder, Vice President <br /> of Business/Chief Financial Officer <br /> A detailed narrative was provided as Attachment I dated August 30, 2017 as part <br /> of the RCA and as part of the university's presentation to the Planning Commis- <br /> sion, along with the subsequent minutes (Attachment J)from that meeting. <br />
