He suggested item 2.1 be changed to, "Proactively <br />317 promote intermodal connectivity to include transit and pathways." He also <br />318 suggested they strike "non -motorized" in item 2.1 since it is covered in a different <br />319 section. <br />320 <br />321 Mr. Freihammer suggested staff provide wording to consolidate items 2.1, 2.4, and <br />322 2.5, and bring it back to the Commission for approval. <br />323 <br />324 Item 3.1. Svstem-wide transportation capacity should be achieved by using a high <br />325 level of network connectivity, appropriately spaced and properly sized <br />326 thoroughfares and multiple travel modes, rather than by increasing the capacity of <br />327 individual thoroughfares. <br />328 Mr. Freihammer explained this change was brought up by the Planning <br />329 Commission. They suggested the end of the statement be changed to, "rR�� <br />330 b -y as an alternate to increasing the capacity of individual thoroughfares where <br />331 appropriate. <br />332 <br />333 Member Seigler recalled aprotest in Minneapolis against the addition of bike lanes, <br />334 and inquired if they should add something to make sure they do not go overboard <br />335 with bike lanes. <br />336 <br />337 Member Wozniak stated the protest was a hoax. <br />338 <br />339 Chair Cihacek explained the plan states they should design bike lanes where <br />340 appropriate. <br />341 <br />342 The Commission accepted the change to Item 3.1 as proposed by the Planning <br />343 Commission. <br />344 <br />345 Item 3.7. Maintain high-quality neighborhoods through the ongoing Citv Pavement <br />346 Management Program to rehabilitate or reconstruct Citv streets. <br />347 Member Wozniak proposed the addition of Item 3.8, as a broad statement to what <br />348 the City is already doing and suggested it include wording about environmentally <br />349 safe, effective and sustainable methods of ensuring that people have access to the <br />350 streets year round. <br />351 <br />Page 8 of 14 <br />
