Consideration of a Community Development Department Request to Per- <br /> form an Abatement for Unresolved City Code Violations at 182 S McCarrons <br /> Blvd. <br /> Codes Coordinator Dave Englund summarized this request for this single-family, <br /> owner-occupied home at 182 McCarrons Blvd.; with the property owner of record <br /> identified as Caroline R. Cortes. Mr. Englund reviewed current violations, in- <br /> cluding vehicles without a valid license (407.04.A,D) and inoperable vehicles <br /> (407.02.G.2.c). In accordance with the 2017 Fee Schedule, Mr. Englund estimated <br /> that the cost of abatement, encompassing removal of the inoperable vehicle and <br /> administrative costs at approximately $125.00. Mr. Englund noted that the prop- <br /> erty owner was not present at tonight's meeting. <br /> Mr. Englund reviewed the original nine vehicles and lack of response from the <br /> property owner until earlier today advising of the progress made in resolving code <br /> violations. In consideration, Mr. Englund suggested authorization of the abate- <br /> ment, if the property owner was not in full compliance within the next three <br /> weeks. As of this afternoon's staff visit, Mr. Englund reported that three vehicles <br /> remained in violation: one unlicensed, and at least two of those three inoperable. <br /> Mayor Roe provided an opportunity for public comment with no one appearing <br /> for or against. <br /> Given the delays with State software issues, Councilmember Willmus expressed <br /> concern with the property owner being able to comply in renewing license tabs; <br /> and therefore supported the requested additional time to allow for compliance; <br /> and asked that staff be cognizant of that problem going forward with similar code <br /> violations. <br /> Councilmember McGehee questioned if there was sufficient space to park vehi- <br /> cles on site on city code approved surfaces; with Mr. Englund responding that the <br /> majority of the vehicles were parked on an approved surface, but also advising <br /> that he had alerted staff to the potential of other city code requirements subse- <br /> quent to this issue. <br /> At the request of Councilmember Laliberte, Mr. Englund advised that the $125 <br /> per abatement administrative fee was sufficient to cover city costs, noting that <br /> staff was not recommending a $125 fee per vehicle; with towing charges the re- <br />
