A. 3. being revised to read as follows:
"In no event, shall a motorized watercraft or person being towed an recreational
equipment by such watercraft, pass betrveen a raft and the nearest shoreline. "
This action was taken with the understanding that the Roseville City Council may have to
reconsider their May 12, 1997 action on the Joint Powers Agreement. The Shoreview
City Cauncil felt that the drafted language does not take inta account rafts that are located
greater than 150 feet from shore. The suggested language clarifies that no motorized
watercraft (including person being towed) can pass between a raft and the nearest
shareline and does not include a specified distance. The Council agreed that it is very
difficult to enforce specific distances and this approach wauld provide safety to
swimmers in the water, on a raft, or under the water.
Es we discussea yesieraay on tize pnone, inere inay e aitcrrave li;ua:, a U c
accomplishes both of our community's goals for boating safety on Lake Owasso. If you
have any suggestions, please feel free to cantact me. I wauld also like to confer with our
Lake Regulations Comrnittee if we develop revised language so we don't have another
lengthy Council discussion on this issue.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact David Ebeling or me at
490-4652 or 490-4611.
Sincerely,
....W _
 `.,; ., .. wow
Terry chwerm
ity IVI -anager
cc: I7avid Ebeling
t:\letter\rosevi I lejpa
