<br />Department Description
<br />The Information Technology provides for the purchasing, installation, and support of communication and
<br />information systems in city buildings. The Program’s activities are accounted for in the Information
<br />Technology Fund.

<br />2018Budget Impact Items
<br />Personnel increases include a 2.25% cost-of-living increase for city staff and wage-step increases
<br />for eligible employees.It also includes the increased costs associated with three additional staff
<br />positions.
<br />‘Other Services & Charges’ increased is due to the inclusion of $355,000 of charge-backs to
<br />partnering agencies. Previously these costs had been excluded because it represent no net costs.
<br />2016/2017Achievements
<br />Completed major security improvements including email protection and antivirus software.
<br />Deployed Jabber Instant Messaging –Enterprise and Mobile Deployment.
<br />Completed facility security improvement projects for Hugo (card access), Lino Lakes (security
<br />cameras), St. Francis (security cameras) and St. Anthony (card access and additional security
<br />cameras)
<br />Extended fiber-optic network to Little Canada City Hall, Falcon Heights City Hall, NSAC Studio,
<br />St. Anthony Water Tower, and Emmett D. Williams School.
<br />IP Telephony upgrades and deployments for Lauderdale, Falcon Heights, Ham Lake and Centennial
<br />Lakes Police.
<br />Added City of Lexington to Metro-INET, bringing the total to 44 Shared IT Service Agreements
<br />with other governmental agencies.
<br />Upgrade facility Wi-Fi for Forest Lake, Roseville, Vadnais Heights, and Mounds View.
<br />Partnered with League of Minnesota Cities on software subscription volume discount program to
<br />extend Adobe Acrobat to 125 users (across the Metro-INET group of cities).
