<br />The Police Administration Department is responsible for ensuring continuous, innovative, and effectual
<br />public safety services by anticipating, planning, and fulfilling the needs of citizens and Department
<br />Staff.Police Administration’s activities are accounted for in the General Fund.
<br />2018Goals and Objectives
<br />Implement online crime reporting as new customer service tool.
<br />Expand department volunteers(e.g.reserve officers, park patrollers, interns, explorers, block captains,
<br />etc.),streamlining opportunities through the City’s volunteer coordinator.
<br />Apply real time statistical information to increase intelligence-based policing services.
<br />Expand all forms of communication with continued focus on social media applications.

<br />2018Budget Impact Items
<br />Personnel increases include a 2.25-2.75% cost-of-living increase for city staff and wage-step
<br />increases for eligible employees.
<br />2016/2017Achievements
<br />Winner of 2017 St. Paul Chamber of Commerce’s Leaders in Local Government Award in the
<br />category of Communications. Initiatives recognized were the bi-weekly “One Chief’s Perspective”
<br />newsletter, the television series “Behind the Badge” and the department’sleadership role in
<br />community engagements initiatives such as the“Imagine Roseville”police and race dialogues.
<br />Expanded social media outreach:Facebook (2,500+ followers), Twitter (3,600+ followers) and
<br />Nextdoor.com (6,100+ followers) presence.
<br />Completed 2016 customer service survey in an effort to measuresatisfaction with policing services.
<br />Results show 84% of respondents were very satisfied. A majority surveyed were traffic encounters.
<br />Participated in multi-agency stabilization/ reinvestment planning efforts in SE Roseville (e.g.
<br />playground project, community garden, police substation,community safety center,directed patrols,
<br />lighting evaluation, business organization, blight elimination programs, survey of residents and
<br />businesses, etc.).
<br />Obtained federal matching funds to implement a department-wide body-worn camera program.
<br />Completed full revision of agency’s policy and procedure manual (fall of 2016).
<br />Successful completion of large-scale FBI/BCA compliance audit.
