Member Wozniak commented on Page 38 the second paragraph regarding <br />Complete Streets. He requested a recommendation be made regarding how the City <br />will approach complete streets. <br />Chair Cihacek suggested MnDOT's requirements for complete streets be added to <br />this portion of the document and that the current paragraph be stricken entirely. <br />Mr. Culver stated there was a Capstone Group from the University of Minnesota <br />that was working on a Complete Street Policy for the City. He believed there was <br />interest in this item within the community. He explained he could add language to <br />this Section of the plan stating the City should consider adopting a Complete Streets <br />Policy in the next three to five years. <br />Member Wozniak supported the inclusion of this language. <br />Chair Cihacek suggested this language be included in the strategy portion of the <br />document, versus being a bullet point. <br />Member Wozniak stated on Page 41 under Transit, he would like to see <br />recommendations made. He recognized there were an increased number of senior <br />developments in the City and he wanted to be assured the transit system was <br />adjusting to meet the needs of these seniors. <br />Chair Cihacek reported this portion of the document was describing the state of the <br />City's current transit system. <br />Mr. Culver commented on Page 59 staff addressed the City's eight transit strategies. <br />He explained a reference point could be added on Page 41 to point readers to this <br />cross reference. <br />Member Wozniak recommended the item on Page 46 be reworded to read: Ensure <br />that the transportation network is prepared for changing transportation technologies <br />and modes and can accommodate aging population that was less reliant on vehicles. <br />Mr. Culver suggested the word changing be swapped to emerging. <br />Chair Cihacek was of the opinion the current language was adequate. <br />Member Wozniak explained he wanted this language to address how transportation <br />was changing along with demographics. <br />Chair Cihacek recommended this section be reworded to read: Ensure that the <br />transportation network is prepared for changing technologies, modes and <br />demographics. <br />Page 5 of 8 <br />
