Member Wozniak questioned if Section 5.5 on Page 48 should be moved to Section 3. Mr. Culver stated Section 3 addressed roads and Section 5 addressed non - motorized. Chair Cihacek explained he could support the movement of Section 5.5 to Section 3. He requested the definition of multi -modal be added to this portion of the document. Mr. Culver stated he would add the definition of multi -modal to the document. Member Seigler requested another bullet be added to Page 46 addressing the need to encourage increasing traffic capacity on our neighboring highways by communicating to Metropolitan Council, Metro Transit and MnDOT the issues of over capacity on City streets due to inadequate capacity on area highways. Chair Cihacek supported this addition to Section 1.3 within Transportation Decisions on Page 46. Mr. Culver thanked the Commission for their comments and noted staff was proposing to hold aseries of public meetings on the Transportation Plan in January. He anticipated the Council would not take action on this item until spring or early summer. He reported the goal would be to have afinal version of the Transportation Plan by the end of 2018. Motion Member Wozniak moved, Member Trainor seconded, to recommend approval of the Transportation Plan as amended. Ayes: 4 Nays: 0 Motion carried. 7. Public Works 2018 Work Plan Mr. Freihammer reviewed the proposed 2018 Work Plan with the Commission. He commented on a map of projects that would be completed in the coming year. He noted the big project was the Pavement Management Project and noted 7.5 miles of roads would be completed. He stated the Railroad Crossings at C2 and Long Lake Road would be replaced. The utility projects planned for 2018 were described, along with the water booster station upgrades. Staff described how the projects would be funded through City funds and grants. He reported a major county project was not anticipated for 2018. It was noted the MnPASS project would begin in 2019. Page 6 of 8
