Member Wozniak questioned if Section 5.5 on Page 48 should be moved to Section <br />3. <br />Mr. Culver stated Section 3 addressed roads and Section 5 addressed non - <br />motorized. <br />Chair Cihacek explained he could support the movement of Section 5.5 to Section <br />3. He requested the definition of multi -modal be added to this portion of the <br />document. <br />Mr. Culver stated he would add the definition of multi -modal to the document. <br />Member Seigler requested another bullet be added to Page 46 addressing the need <br />to encourage increasing traffic capacity on our neighboring highways by <br />communicating to Metropolitan Council, Metro Transit and MnDOT the issues of <br />over capacity on City streets due to inadequate capacity on area highways. <br />Chair Cihacek supported this addition to Section 1.3 within Transportation <br />Decisions on Page 46. <br />Mr. Culver thanked the Commission for their comments and noted staff was <br />proposing to hold aseries of public meetings on the Transportation Plan in January. <br />He anticipated the Council would not take action on this item until spring or early <br />summer. He reported the goal would be to have afinal version of the Transportation <br />Plan by the end of 2018. <br />Motion <br />Member Wozniak moved, Member Trainor seconded, to recommend approval <br />of the Transportation Plan as amended. <br />Ayes: 4 <br />Nays: 0 <br />Motion carried. <br />7. Public Works 2018 Work Plan <br />Mr. Freihammer reviewed the proposed 2018 Work Plan with the Commission. He <br />commented on a map of projects that would be completed in the coming year. He <br />noted the big project was the Pavement Management Project and noted 7.5 miles <br />of roads would be completed. He stated the Railroad Crossings at C2 and Long <br />Lake Road would be replaced. The utility projects planned for 2018 were <br />described, along with the water booster station upgrades. Staff described how the <br />projects would be funded through City funds and grants. He reported a major <br />county project was not anticipated for 2018. It was noted the MnPASS project <br />would begin in 2019. <br />Page 6 of 8 <br />
