This <br />will be an open house format and will give you an opportunity to participate in community <br />discussionabout the process and preferred concept. Nametags will be available for you <br />and, if you can, please wear your Parks and Recreation Commission polo shirts. <br />Thecommunityopen house will begin at 6:00 p.m.and will continue until around 7:30 or so <br />(flexible) at which time you can convene into a meeting to conduct any remaining agenda <br />items for the Commission. CTV will be thereto tape the evening and replay later. <br />In your packet is a copy of the initial concept optionsand the preferredconcept. <br />The room will be set up with easels holding the concept options,thepreferred concept and <br />very preliminary cost estimates. There will be a suggestion box and a flip chart available for <br />those wishing to make a park name suggestion.You will eventuallyconsideran appropriate <br />nameto recommend for the park(similar will be done with the Marion Street site) later. In <br />your packet is a policy on naming city facilities as a reference guide. <br />The community planning process has included the following: <br />Tuesday, August 29 community meeting to hear opportunities and brainstorm <br />(62 attendees) <br />Thursday, October 5 concept design review hearing comments(54 attendees) <br />Thursday, November 2 preferred concept master plan <br />On-line, phone call, website, information at City facilities, individual meetings <br />have also been encouraged, offered and utilized <br />All planning and public engagement strategiesinvolve gathering information and feedback <br />in a variety of methods. <br />Very preliminary construction cost estimates for the base planare $230,000. An additional <br />55% ($126,500) may occurif others (construction manager) manage this project. At this <br />point,it is the belief of staff that by managing this project in-house, the park could be build <br />for approximately $250,000. <br />Requested Commission Action: Participate in theCommunity Open House by sharing <br />plans and listeningtocomments from community <br /> <br />
