Regular City Council Meeting Monday, March 12,2018 Page 25 Willmus moved, McGehee seconded, the appointment of Wayne Groff to the Planning Commission for term ending March 31, 2021. Council Discussion Councilmember Willmus had a lengthy conversation with Mr. Groff and noted that he is knowledgeable about issues before the City. Mr. Groff also has tech- nical expertise with regard to land use. Councilmember McGehee noted Mr. Groff has spent time on the Planning Com- mission in another municipality as well. Mayor Roe did not list Mr. Groff on his top choices,but only because he had very good conversations with Mr. Peters and Mr. Sabean and thought Mr. Schreuers was also good in the interview. He encouraged each of those candidates to apply again, as they would stand a very good chance of gaining an appointment in the future. Roll Call Ayes: Willmus, Etten, McGehee, Laliberte, and Roe. Nays: None. McGehee moved, Etten seconded, the appointment of Michael Joyce, Martin Kors, and Michael Kruse to the Public Works, Environmental and Transportation Commission for terms ending March 31, 2021. Council Discussion Councilmember McGehee commented all three candidates were all qualified, in- cluding Mr. Schreuers. Councilmember Etten encouraged Ms. Stone to apply again, as she could have brought different perspectives. But all three selected have technical skills in each area that could be helpful to the Commission. Mayor Roe stated Stone's biggest issue was the potential conflict in her schedule for the next year. Councilmember Laliberte noted she took into account the fact that several candi- dates worked for agencies, which could possibly present potential conflicts of in- terest. That is why she put Mr. Schreuers in,to break that up a bit. Roll Call Ayes: Willmus, Etten, McGehee, Laliberte, and Roe. Nays: None.
