Roseville Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement
Commission
Agenda Item
DATE: March 21, 2018 ITEM: 8b
ITEM DESCRIPTION: City Engagement Efforts
Background
Get to Know Roseville Police— Fraud, Scam, Identify Theft
Scammers are heartless. They use threatening tactics, warning that a federal agent or police
officer is on the way to arrest the targeted victim or that a loved one will be sent to prison.
They even go through obituaries to get enough information to fool a grieving family member.
Some of the recent scams that the Roseville Police have seen lately include:
• An IRS call demanding immediate payment for a tax bill.
• A police officer calling to say they have a warrant for your arrest and demand money for
bail.
• Notification that your insurance policy is about to lapse because of an unpaid premium.
• A call from a "grandchild" saying he is in trouble and asking the grandparents to send
money.
The Roseville Police Department will help you keep your hard-earned money.Join them on
March 27 for a free class to learn how to spot a scam and what to do if you believe you've been
a victim.
Tuesday, March 27
5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Roseville Skating Center
2661 Civic Center Drive
Light snacks and refreshments will be provided
Open to residents 18 years and older or 15 to 17 years with parent or guardian
