Multicultural Festival Background A Representative from the Roseville Area High School contacted staff regarding their upcoming Multicultural Festival and whether the HRIEC was interested in participating this year.The email is below: We are starting to plan the RAHS One World Multicultural Show early this year with a group of dedicated students from our different cultural clubs in the school. In years past the themes have been:Being me in America 2014, Grown in American 2015, Beauty of Cultures 2016, Under the Some Sky 2017, and TBD 2018. Which 1 describe as a small festival of nations enterprise. Last year we had over 500 people attend who range from members of the community, school board members,families from our schools, teachers/administrators from all over the district, and families of students who are participating. There is a performance piece in our auditorium where in years past where African American, Hmong, Karen, Latina and Nepali students participate in demonstrating something about their culture. (This year 1 am looking into what other cultural groups are interested in participating. The target audience continues to be our underrepresented populations.) Then there is crafts and Free food in the lunchroom. A group of people from the Human Rights Commission came and participated the night of helping volunteer. They also donated a small amount to use for food and Carolyn wrote up a news article that she sent to local media before the event to advertise. 1 always welcome help from people and especially this year we need assistance with funding, donations, and volunteers. Please let me know if you are interested in participating and in what capacity. March 29th is the date for this year. Recommendation Discuss participation for the upcoming year, and whether the commission is interested in participating and how it aligns with the Action Plan.
