NO. <br />10-12 <br />OBJECTIVE: <br />To conduct criminal investigations to successfully resolve <br />criminal activity, and assist in the successful prosecution of <br />offenders. To identify patterns of criminal activity and <br />develop preventive techniques, decreasing the opportunity to <br />successfully commit crime. <br />ACTIVITY: <br />1. This unit, presently comprised of one sergeant, two investi- <br />gators, and one juvenile officer, investigate crime with <br />assistance of patrol personnel and outside agencies. They <br />collect and preserve evidence during the course of investi- <br />gating, and maintain the proper chain of evidence. <br />2. The records unit, consisting of three police office clerks <br />(includes one part-time added in 1987), process all reports <br />initiated by Roseville officers. The Chief's secretary also <br />assists this unit. Information for every incident must be <br />sorted, entered into the computer, and filed. Al1 criminal <br />reports going to outside agencies are typed (started in <br />1987). <br />3. The Crime Prevention Officer works to develop contacts with <br />citizens and business people in an effort to reduce crime <br />opportunities and the effect of crime on the community. He <br />also work s to start up Neighborhood Watch groups. <br />EXPENDITURE COMMENTS: <br />A. Supplies is down to reflect the actual expenditure level. <br />14 <br />
