Roseville Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement <br /> Commission <br /> Agenda Item <br /> DATE: June 20, 2018 ITEM: 7f <br /> ITEM DESCRIPTION: Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARS) update <br /> Background <br /> The City became part of the 2018 Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARS) Cohort in <br /> January 2018. The Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARS) is a national network of <br /> governments working to achieve racial equity and advance opportunities for all. The GARE <br /> Leadership team uses curriculum, expertise of practitioners and academia to share a field of <br /> practice to approach complex race issues and help governments take effective action toward <br /> racial equity. <br /> The City of Roseville identified 14 employees across all departments and levels to participate in <br /> the yearlong cohort. In addition, there are 14 jurisdictions participating in the GARE cohort this <br /> year, with close to 200 participants. Some of those jurisdictions are in their second year of the <br /> program, and some, like Roseville are in their first year. <br /> Staff will provide information and background on the work the Roseville team has focused on <br /> over the past several months. <br /> Recommendation <br /> None.
