Page 3
Item 4: Communications Items
Misc. Items:
Recycling: Attached (Attachment C) is an article from the Star Tribune which was printed on
July 15"'. The article discusses the changes in market conditions for the sale of recycled material
due to China's recent decision to stop accepting "dirty" recycled material. The City of
Roseville's contract with Eureka Recycling includes a revenue sharing model which results in
extra costs to the City if Eureka is paying more to recycle the materials than they make in
revenue of the sale of the materials. In 2017, the City received $34,860 in revenue sharing from
Eureka. However, October through December realized a negative balance on revenue sharing of
$5223. So far in 2018, the City has PAID IN $14,235 due to increased costs to Eureka and loss
of revenue. Staff will continue to work with Eureka on this item and monitor the situation.
Major Maintenance Activities:
• Finished painting street messages.
• Completed pathway adjacent to turn lanes on Hamline near Josephine and Lydia.
• Performed numerous other streetscape maintenance.
• Completed 2°d citywide street sweeping.
• Assisted Parks Department for Rosefest.
o Patched County roads for Run and Roll event
o Pre and post parade sweeping
o Participated in Touch a Truck
• Ongoing monthly compost turning.
• Assisted on two watermain breaks.
• Repaired numerous storm sewer repairs.
• Inspected inlets and outlets after July rainfalls.
• Completed centerline pavement markings.
• Ongoing patching in neighborhoods.
• Completed 3`d cycle of City right of way mowing.
• Delivered compost and woodchips.
• Ongoing street sign work.
• Continue cleaning sanitary sewer mains.
• Continue flushing public fire hydrants and began flushing private hydrants.
• Collected water samples for bacteriological testing and disinfectant by-products.
• Repaired two overhead doors.
• Continued replacing meter heads and radios.
• Continued working with engineers and contractors on the 2018 PMP, the Booster Station
Phases 1 & 2 projects, the Lounge, Walsh Pond and Femwood Lift Station projects.
• Collected I/I flow data at 10 locations every two weeks.
• All staff attended confined space OSHA training.
Attachments:
A: 2018 Project Map
B: June Development Activity Report
