Attachment A <br />TheMorris Leatherman Company <br />May2018 <br />Parks andRecreation: <br />Ninety-fivepercent ratethe park and recreationfacilitiesin Roseville as either “excellent” or <br />“good.” Only threepercentaremore critical. Amongthe City’s recreationalfacilities, 33%most <br />frequently use “trails,” 29% mostoften use“neighborhood parks,” and11%most frequently use <br />“athletic facilities.” But, 28% of the City’s households donotuseanyofthese facilities. Ninety- <br />fivepercent highly ratethe upkeep andmaintenance of RosevilleCity Parks; only threepercent <br />are more criticalintheirjudgments. <br />Forty-one percent again report household participationina city-sponsored park and recreation <br />program. While a large majority have nosuggestions for offering new orexpanding current park <br />and recreation programs, fifteenpercent support offering“more events in the parks–either <br />concerts/movies or fitness.” <br />Forty-sevenpercent, up 21%, report householdmembers use the trailsystem at leastonce per <br />week;twenty-twopercent, one-half the 2016level, do so severaltimes amonthly or just <br />monthly; and, 10%are lessfrequenttrail users. Twenty-onepercent report no onein their <br />household uses the trails at all. In prioritizing expansions or improvements of the City’s trail <br />system,35%eachpick“construction oftrails connecting the neighborhood and shopping and <br />business areas”or “construction oftrails connecting neighborhoods and parks.” Twenty-four <br />percent choose “construction ofadditional trailsfor exercise within parks.” <br />Eighty-nine percent, an increase of ten percent since the 2016study, are awarethe City opened <br />new park buildings atAutumnGrove, Lexington, Rosebrook,Oasis, Sandcastle and Villa Parks. <br />Fifty-fourpercentof the samplevisited or usedone of the new park buildings. Among the 46% <br />not visiting a new park building, 36%report “they havenotime or aretoo busy,”23% report <br />“age or healthissues,” and22% have “nointerest.” But, 99% of park buildingvisitors rate their <br />experience as either“excellent” or “good,” and anemphatic 98% would consider using one of <br />the new park buildings again in the future. Anearly-unanimous 99%feel the current mix of <br />recreational or sports facilitiesmeets the needs of members of theirhousehold. <br />Communications I: <br />The City Newsletterandthe City website are the most oftenindicated primarysourcesof <br />information aboutthe community, at38%and 36%, respectively. The local newspaperranks <br />third, at10%. The “grapevine” is relied upon byfour percentof the sample, one-half ofthe 2016 <br />level.
