Derek Brown from 2978 Pascal Streetexplained that agood park can be used for children for <br />ages 3-12 years old. Brown provided pictures of potential smaller course options. <br />Chris Bucksa from 1245 Bellaire Circle spoke to thecommunity build nights at the pump <br />track inCottage Grove and the volunteer programs they have put in place to support the <br />track. <br />The Commission discussed the pump track and what next steps would be to move forward <br />with the idea. Staff responded the next step would be to develop a more thorough project and <br />community engagement plan. The Commission expressed support for the idea. <br />5)REVIEW PATHWAY MASTER PLAN <br />Assistant Public Works Director Jesse Freihammerpresenteda review of the Pathway Master <br />Planand provided an update on pathway construction. <br />ThePathway MasterPlan was last updated in 2008.The Public Works Department and the <br />Public Works, Environment and Transportation Commission (PWET) is currently working <br />onupdatingthe plan. <br />The proposed changesto the Pathway Master Planinclude; <br />Map updates <br />Adding5pathwaysegments based on resident feedback <br />Changelanguage from“priority plan”to “preference plan” <br />Updateofpolicies and standards <br />IncorporatingtheParks and Recreation System Master Plan’sconstellationconcept <br />and connections <br />The new scoringsystem for thepathway preference plan is based oncriteria withstatistical <br />analysisand is no longer subjective. The 6 criteria include:connects multiple destinations, <br />volume of usage, connects to regional system, addresses a gap or barrier in the transportation <br />network, connects to transit, and connectshigh-density residential to transit and parks. <br />Freihammer provided the updated pathwayplan preferencelist utilizing the new scoring <br />system. He noted thatit is called a preference list and not a priority list as projects may not be <br />undertaken in the exact order ofranking. <br />Commissioner Heikkila asked if Public Works looksfor “goat paths”. Staff responded that <br />they do look forthose situationsandwhen found they try to make the connections. <br /> <br />
