Commissioner Heikkila suggestedthat the public reviewthe Pathway Master Plandocument <br />as he feels it is very impressive how much planning goes into the pathways in the <br />community. <br />Commissioner Bole commented on the current state of somepathways. Staff confirmed that <br />the pathways are regularly swept and that all pathways are assessed for condition every 4 <br />years. <br />6)DISCUSS AND PREPARE FOR JOINT MEETING WITH THE CITY COUNCIL <br />ChairO’Brien provided an overview of what was discussed at the 2017 joint meeting, <br />includingthe deer reduction effort and Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). <br />The Commissionreviewed and modified the Request forCityCouncil Action (RCA) report <br />forthe joint meeting anddiscussedwhatspecifically to highlight forthe City Council. <br />Discussion included: <br />Commissioner Stoner suggested expanding theoutreachconcept to 1716 Marion <br />Streetandsuggested adding “promoting parks and recreation opportunities in diverse <br />communities” underthe short term“what’s next”section <br />The Commission agreed to move “add unique components and play opportunities” <br />underthe short term “what’s next” section with a specific reference to the youth <br />pump track bike course at Autumn Grove <br />Commissioner Warzechaagreed to highlightEmerald Ash Borer (EAB). <br />Commissioner Heikkilasuggestedhaving anEAB campaign similar to St. Paul,who <br />wraps Ash Trees with green flags to inform residents of whichtrees are Ash and to <br />help identify that those trees will be removed <br />Chair O’Brien proposedthat Darrell could present onthe upcomingbondingeffortto <br />the City Council(if he was agreeable). She alsosuggested adding a summary ofpark <br />building usageto the RCA <br />Chair O’Brienagreed to speak on the“what’s next” section <br />The Commissionconfirmed that the attachmentsto the RCA should includethe:EAB <br />Report,Parks and Recreation CommissionPrimer, Cedarholm Community Building Open <br />House Flyerand the 2017 ParkBuilding Usage. <br />The Commission agreed to gather at 6:30p.m.inthe HawthorneRoom at City Hall prior to <br />the June 18, 2018 joint meeting with the City Council. <br /> <br />
