Commissioner Heikkila suggestedthat the public reviewthe Pathway Master Plandocument as he feels it is very impressive how much planning goes into the pathways in the community. Commissioner Bole commented on the current state of somepathways. Staff confirmed that the pathways are regularly swept and that all pathways are assessed for condition every 4 years. 6)DISCUSS AND PREPARE FOR JOINT MEETING WITH THE CITY COUNCIL ChairO’Brien provided an overview of what was discussed at the 2017 joint meeting, includingthe deer reduction effort and Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). The Commissionreviewed and modified the Request forCityCouncil Action (RCA) report forthe joint meeting anddiscussedwhatspecifically to highlight forthe City Council. Discussion included: Commissioner Stoner suggested expanding theoutreachconcept to 1716 Marion Streetandsuggested adding “promoting parks and recreation opportunities in diverse communities” underthe short term“what’s next”section The Commission agreed to move “add unique components and play opportunities” underthe short term “what’s next” section with a specific reference to the youth pump track bike course at Autumn Grove Commissioner Warzechaagreed to highlightEmerald Ash Borer (EAB). Commissioner Heikkilasuggestedhaving anEAB campaign similar to St. Paul,who wraps Ash Trees with green flags to inform residents of whichtrees are Ash and to help identify that those trees will be removed Chair O’Brien proposedthat Darrell could present onthe upcomingbondingeffortto the City Council(if he was agreeable). She alsosuggested adding a summary ofpark building usageto the RCA Chair O’Brienagreed to speak on the“what’s next” section The Commissionconfirmed that the attachmentsto the RCA should includethe:EAB Report,Parks and Recreation CommissionPrimer, Cedarholm Community Building Open House Flyerand the 2017 ParkBuilding Usage. The Commission agreed to gather at 6:30p.m.inthe HawthorneRoom at City Hall prior to the June 18, 2018 joint meeting with the City Council.
