Commissioner Stoner asked why the Park Dedication amount could only be collectedfor <br />additional lots created. Staff responded that it is consistent with legal requirements. <br />Chair O’Brien questioned if there is any indication on how the neighbors feel about a park at <br />this location.Staff responded that specificoutreach for this particular site has not been done <br />to assess interest or gather feelings. <br />The Commission discussed the small size of a potential park versus a cashrecommendation <br />that could be used towards improvingparks or purchasing a larger park in the SW area.The <br />need to keep looking for opportunities in the SW area of Roseville was emphasized. <br />Commissioner Stoner suggested apotentiallarger strategy for SW Roseville that would <br />combine smaller parcelsin the future. <br />Commissioners Recommendation:CommissionerBole moved to recommendto the City <br />Councilthat they accept the cash option in the amount of $8,000 to satisfy the Park <br />Dedication requirement for the Midland CrestDevelopment.Commissioner Hoagseconds. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br />4)ONGOING TOPICS <br />a) UPDATE ON CLEVELAND AVENUE AND MARION STREET PARK SITES <br />AND NAMES <br />The Commission was provided a list of community recommended names for the new parks <br />located at 2134 Cleveland Ave. and 1716 Marion Street. <br />The construction documentshave beenfinalized. Muchof the work on the parks will be <br />completed in house and also utilizing the community buildapproach. However, there are <br />some areasthat will require a contractor. Bid documents have been sent out. <br />It is anticipated that community involvement in appropriate areas for building the parks will <br />occur in September andOctober, 2018. <br />Vice-Chair Baggenstoss asked for clarification if the Commission could choose a name <br />outside of the list of community recommendations. Also, he requested the names be added to <br />the Parks and Recreation websiteto allow the public access.Staff confirmed that the <br />Commission could recommenda name that hadnot been previously suggestedand that the <br />list will be added to the website. <br />Chair O’Brien encouraged Commissioners to come to the August meeting prepared for a <br />robust naming discussion. She also thanked those members ofthe Community who have <br />submitted names and encouragedthe submittal of additional name suggestions. <br /> <br />
